About Us

It all started with the need to eat well.

Desi Roots is a community-farming venture that only came into being after we spent a few months growing our own vegetables. We noticed the difference in quality and taste. The produce that we grew was all seasonal and tasted fresher and crisper than what we usually bought.

From the moment we decided to take our little personal project, on an entrepreneurial level, we were sure of one thing. Right from sourcing the land for farming to procuring the best quality seeds and overseeing the entire process, the core team would be involved in everything. We personally supervise the process, ensuring that the produce that comes to you is fresh and naturally grown.

In an effort to do our bit to help the local farming community of Gujarat, we have hired farmers from across the state to work on the farms. These farmers are a very crucial part of our enterprise, owing to their skills, expertise and experience. They have been fully trained to maintain high standards of hygiene and sensitization while handling the produce.

Desi Roots has also established a sound supply chain of produce from other parts of India. Local farmers from Kashmir have been roped in to send their produce to us, first hand. With minimal human contact and fast delivery services, we will ensure that this produce reaches us fast, so that we can send it out while it is fresh and delicious.

Chef Pranav Joshi, Founder

The term ‘Chef’ doesn’t begin to cover everything that this young and dynamic food expert has achieved in a short span. Armed with a culinary degree from Australia, Joshi has to his credit a multitude of awards and titles including the glam title of Times Man Of The Year 2018.

He has been a columnist, a cookery show host, an F&B consultant for cafes and restaurants and even a recipe developer for some well-known FMCG brands in India. Joshi has presented a wide variety of shows, ranging from local Gujarati cookery sagas, to being featured on national level food channels such as Food Food, Living Foodz. His affable personality combined with a passion for food that oozes on the screen earned him soaring TRPs and made him a household name in kitchens across the country. But that was only the beginning.
